What is Seedstars World
Seedstars World is a Switzerland based startup competition that takes place in emerging markets. They run 65+ local competitions to identify the best seed-stage startups, train them to pitch and grant the winners an opportunity to compete in the Seedstars Summit and win the ultimate Seedstars World Global Winner prize.
How it came to Harare
The Seedstars World Competition was brought to Zimbabwe in 2016 by Impact Hub Harare’s co- founder Tadzoka Pswarayi, the Zimbabwean Seedstars Ambassador after a year of discussions and fundraising with the Seedstars team. She wanted to expose Zimbabwean start-ups to international networks and investments, aligning well with the direction Impact Hub Harare is taking.
Last year’s winner, Vusumuzi Mkhwananzi of MyRunner, continues to grow and develop a sustainable business with strong foundations. Dr. CADx, the winner in 2016, has gone on to win multiple business awards for its innovative solutions. Rera, the first prize winner, will go on to the international competition in April 2019 & potentially win seed capital for their business.
As for those who didn’t win, Seedstars Harare was a great learning experience; building investor language & mentor & network database.
