ABOUT

Accelerate 2030

Accelerate2030 is a global multi-stakeholder scale-readiness programme, co-initiated by Impact Hub Geneva and UNDP, with the mission to support ventures that contribute towards the SDGs, to scale their impact in developing countries. The programme has been established in 21 emerging countries, including Zimbabwe, and continues to scale across the globe. To date, Impact Hub Harare has run two cycles of the programme in 2017 and 2019. The third cycle is  running this year.

Programme Background

We believe entrepreneurs play a major role in bringing forward unconventional solutions to the world’s increasingly complex and critical challenges. However, to do this, entrepreneurs do not only need a favourable and enabling ecosystem to thrive, they also need access to specific support and strategic networks in their journey to scale. The main aim of A2030 is to help selected ventures to scale their impact. The main difference between Accelerate 2030 and other scaling programmes is that the focus is on how to scale the impact that the start-ups have as opposed to scaling operations in their entirety.

THE PROCESS

Selected start-ups that are at the beginning of their scaling journey go through locally hosted mentorship and training sessions that cover various topics including leadership and resilience, impact measurement, investment readiness and scaling models. These start-ups then participate in a final pitch competition where the top 3 ventures are nominated for the international phase. A global jury deliberates on the selected nominees from the participating countries and the top 10 ventures are selected to go through the international phase run by the global team at Impact Hub Geneva. Participating startups continue to receive tailored support locally.
